Closing Distances / Cerrando Distancias

 Our Closing Distances/Cerrando Distancias U.S. Documentary tours were launched in spring 2012, with the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. It was the first time the MoMA had done an official program in Cuba. Since then, the Closing Distances tours have screened seven U.S. documentaries and engaged with Cuban audiences in Cienfuegos, Camaguey, Holguin, Bayamo, Guantanamo, Baracoa, the Sierra Maestra Mountains, Pinar del Río, and Havana. Interviews and portions of the presentations have been broadcast on Cuban National Television, reaching millions of Cubans throughout the island. AMI is the only U.S. organization that Cuba has allowed to screen U.S. documentaries in the Cuban provinces.

Short film shot in Cuba by Minda Martin during our Closing Distances/Cerrando Distancias tour in 2013. CUBA/CINE ADENTRO was produced as a gift for all the communities Minda visited on the tour in Eastern Cuba. Some of the locations visited were: Bayamo, the Sierra Maestra Mountains, Guantanamo and Baracoa.
